Resting Comfortably
Something I Learned Today ain’t dead, but it is on life support. Comatose, if you will. At this point I’m not expecting that to change for another month or so. Unless the mood strikes, which hasn’t happened in awhile. But you never know.
How’s that for clear direction?

Hey Eric
Thanks for all the great tunes over the time - even was the main inspiration for me to do my own mp3 blog DisassemblyLine for 18 months or whatever - and you ended sharing two excellent releases I have been after for 15 years or so - the Sorry “Imaginary Friend” and Rain 12″ - massive thanks for the time and energy put into it all - hope the real world is going well for you too and the kids are full of wonderful beautiful chaos…
Take it easy,
timsum
Regardless of whether or not you are going to continue this site, it rules. It’s nice to find someone else who appreciates terrible music.
See you in Hell.
:-(
Thanks for the great music; hope to see more posts whenever you feel like it…in a year or two days from now.
Man, I hope you stick around. I just discovered your site a few months back and it has been a real source of inspiration as I try and get my site up and running. Posting those Mule tunes was a true gift. Keep it coming…
I just discovered your site and I really like it. Am catching up on the old stuff, maybe in the meantime you wil come up with some new stuff, that would be great! I think you have done a fine job. Hope you find some inspiration to keep going.
inspiration,sh!ti i usually find mine at the bottom of
a jar of peanut butter or my local dime store.but, fer what it’s worth you’ve done a really great thing for humanity bye posting all of this stuff, not mention posting the requests’ and what not.if only i could help
you find the inspiration you so desperatly seek,oh,i’ve got it,run down to the closest go-cart track have a couple of laps with your buddies,or your girl, then go talk with the neighbors, surely between the 2 of’em you’ll find some inspiration.
thanx a million
rob
Or, Eric, just do as I do: Drink a bottle of good red wine, finger-wander through your record collection and then let the inspirations flow. Next day don’t forget to fix all the broken links, errors, typos etc.
Gaunt, The Eat, Gears, Karp…Sometimes I saw their names on flyers or in zines. Occasionally, I saw them in the record bins. I shoulda taken the chance 10, 15, 20 years ago but I was too busy buying the latest Black Flag or DK’s record or trying to catch up on the newest British Flavor to hit town. Money never went far enough to take the risk of buying something I might have hated. So I let ‘em go. It’s been nice to get back with bands I never gave a chance and discover some that never crossed my plate. I appreciate what you’ve done here…in case you haven’t heard it enough: Thanks for the second chance.
Hope you don’t quit.
Thanks for so many great treasures from the hardcore (and more) era. Great that you gave us such good stuff. And hey, we all get older and can’t slam it every night, so have no worries about the site.
ahhhh shoot!
I was kind of hoping to see some more upstate NY stuff: more Hunger Artist to replace my long-eaten taped copies of their 7″ stuff, and some Pressurehead, if anyone remembers them! 76% Uncertain was very nice to find.
either way, thank you so far. VERY HAPPY to have what I’ve got.
Eric,
I too am a father, about the same age as you, grew up loving metal and hardcore punk, and find it hard as hell to maintain my site and blog. I’m not given the name out on purpose, but as my e-mail address states (only he can see it), we’re very much into the punk scene right now. I sat on that name for eight years before finally getting it going in March. And I’ll tell you the truth, I was partially inspired after I stumble onto your site and the other by my business partner, who was and still is in a fairly big hardcore band from NJ, to get that mother fucker going. I can certainly understand the demands of what you do, and if you’re curious to see what we got going on, write me an e-mail. I’d hate to see this blog go.
Rock-on Kevin, Rock-on
We miss you, Kevin, and we appreciate all you’ve done for us. You’re a punk rock motherfucker of the highest order. I hope I get to buy you a drink someday. Thanks!
This was, is, and always well be an awesome blog. Please don’t get rid of it just yet. The music you’ve post here has kicked so much ass and it’s great to find someone who loves shitty music, besides me.
I really appreciate all the music you’ve opened my eyes to. Thanks.
Kevin, this really is the coolest blog, and I want to thank you for all you’ve done to keep this great music alive and accessible. Not just to me either- I am 47 years old and have been listening to punk ever since it rescued me from the total crap in the seventies/early eighties. I have teenage sons who tell me some band they are listening to like AFI or Rise Against is doing a cover of some Minor Threat or Suicidal Tendencies song and they know who those guys are! My 16 year old is discovering lots of good stuff thanks to you, my collection can’t keep up with his appetite. I guess I just want to say thanks for keeping the flame burning. You rule.
Sorry to hear about your vibe right and damn straight thank you for the tunes, especially the whole Look Where The Children Ar Now Comp! God bless you friend!
I dont think any of us are going anywhere so take your time!
Cheers
rest. you totally deserve
Thanks for making the Rain tracks available, although I just got the Dischord reissue on cd. I’ve been making some current rare DC stuff available on my blog also.
Peace and thanks for the tunes!

thanx for all the fine stuff over all the months, I always loved to visit your blog. If you come back, fantastic, if not - there is a life beside blogging, so take yours
have a nice day and visit my blog if you like:

I’ve been snagging tracks from here all weekend, as I work through a series of posts on the history of punk for a group of readers who seem to think that The Clash and The Ramones are pretty much it. Thanks so much for providing access to all of this great stuff, and to the sometimes-not-so-great stuff that played along with it.
thanx for the good music….
Thanks for all the great stuff, this site is really great, one of the best out there.
Thanks especially for the podcasts. It’s like the best punk rock radio show. Great mix of stuff I remember from my teenage years and other stuff I’ve never heard before. Here’s a concept: songs that are interrelated by band members, Black Flag/Circle Jerks for example.
Take your time, but please come back when the feeling strikes. Just a terrific site with plenty of great discoveries.
o.k.that’s more than enough rest/break for even the oldest of punks,so off yer ass on yer feet and get back to it!ok,i’m jones’n now and other sites just don’t do it as well,so come offa somemore hardcore!!!!
Thanks for all the good music. You introduced me to a lot of great bands, and reminded me of alot I’d forgotten about.
Going to miss this thing, but thanks for all the great bands. I’m 13, I live in London, and I know nobody else who likes obscure hardcore or punk, so it’s really hard for me to get into older bands. So thanks. Hope this site doesn’t die, but if it does, good luck with whatever.
that is so not cool
Your site was THE best of the best. You introduced me to more bands than my closest friends. I hope you come back soon but if you don’t you can honestly say you did something great if even for a little while.
Best music blog I read, comprehensive, different and interesting.
Thanks so much for it all… especially the Stiphnoyds!
I found Your blog about 2 years ago and it became the most important source of US hcpunk findings for me. Thanks for all of it, thanks for N.O.T.A. and other exciting bands, which I’ve discovered here. It’s only pity, that I haven’t written it earlier. Greetings from Poland!
I really hope that you don’t stop your posts. I just found your site and love it.
well this was one of my fav. sites.
might as well put out some shameless self-promotion.

An old computer crashes with your bookmark on it, and this ends up being the first time I’ve come back here in a year. Now all I want to say is thanks for showing me around the lay of the land when it comes to punk and vinyl. You did a good job keeping us coming here to this vault of outsider joy. I don’t know that I would have been a better summabitch in this world if I’d never heard of The Saints.
But thanks for asking and yes please come back when you’re ready to inspire us — like you always did.

Hello peoplec48ad66db721a43715ff14b9b58da9a2
Some famous and not so famous quotes: You can never fail if you don’t try (Smoking Popes) ——- Quit smoking?! Nobody likes a quitter! (me) ——-and finally,….. Holocaust Schmolocaust! (me again, offered it to a band, but they were too scared) ——————- One of these is sure to make someone happy with sadness. Happy New Year! You can always try: 7inchpunk.com
happy new year…….some music please….miss it
Hey thanks for all your hard work and effort. I really appreciate all the music you put up. Nowadays music sounds so stale and repetitive…
Thanks again! And Happy New Yr
I hope this hiatus is not permanent - I’m keeping in my blog listings.
I was too late to check out your blog full of good-stuff which seem to have been partially withdrawn. Still glad to see some of the links still operational. Man o man would I like to have been there before it disappeared. I’d like to comment on the fact I’ll be looking for the best of this stuff in hard copy. And the stuff that was removed may go the way of the Dodo-bird for all I care. Too many people had thier hands in the perverbial cookie jar in the music industry making it unafordable in the 90’s to take a chance and discover something new. I recall dishing out over $100 Canadian big ones for 3 freaking CD’s and how much of it got to the actual band members.
Thank you for your delivered senses, poetic justice.
Long live BLOG.
a month or so,,,,sh!t,someone out there needs to wake this punk up,teach’em how to tell time,a month or so has come, gone and we ain’t getting any younger, infact with no new posts in what seems like 6 months i’m feelin’ real old.but, given the quality of this sites content it’s hard not to show up everyother day or so just to check in and see if the comatose condition has change.hey, punker,,,wake up,,dust off yer keyboard and
get this thing going again!?please!!!!!!
Just thought I’d leave my two cents. I understand the burn out you can get doing these volunteer projects, but there aren’t many decent music blogs in the world, so we need everyone we can get. It is a shame to see this blog languish. Consider sharing content creation with a trusted co-fan (not myself of course, my knowledge is just not this deep). Having another person to create content works similarly to having a band which ideas and topics bounce off of one another to create even more content. Kind of a ‘whole is greater than the sum of the parts’ thing.
In any case, thanks for the great site.
Livid Imp
let me first date myself saying that i’m of the generation for which slint’s “spiderland” is a “zen arcade”-level, genre-defying tour de force. as i’ve grown older, and moved backward through the canon, i’ve really appreciated you’re semi-leadership role in bringing out some solid, under-remembered punking hardcore from then and then.
thanks.
Come back!
Miss this site! I keep checking back hoping…
come back dammit
COME BACK!!!
Listened to your podcast #6 yet again the other day. Awfully good. Actually, really fucking good. It was nice having someone out there highlighting the “music of my (wonderfully disturbed) youth. You are missed man!
I used to read this website obsessively…. I’ve yet to come across another music blog i like as much.
cooooooooome baaaaaaaack
little raaaaaaven
Life support? We may have to call for time of death. Then again Johnny Smith was in a coma for 5 years after the 18 wheeler accident and he woke up. Just don’t go play hockey, the ice is going to break.
come on, stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!COMEOON!!!!!!!!
