Manson Youth
A comment on the Noise From Nowhere post requested the first Manson Youth 7″. Well, I’ll go one better and give you both Manson Youth 7 inches. Both were released posthumously, the first (Death Dance )was released as Dr. Strange #1 in 1990. God’s Fun Children followed in 1991. I think these were originally recorded in the 1983-84 time frame, but there’s no recording information that I can find. All I know about the band is that they were from California. Lineup information is noted as:

As for the music, try off kilter, speedy hardcore with an weird vibe. Not my favorite records from that era, but they grow on you after a couple of listens:

Didn’t know there was another Manson Youth next to the german outfit who had a split LP in the mid 80s with CNC.

Manson Youth is my fave on the Noise comp. That track blows me away every time.
Never heard these releases before. The Death Dance 7″ sounds essential in my book. Awesome!

I saw them play with FEAR and Flea who was playing bass with FEAR at the time sang backup on the Jimi Hendrix song “fire” with them.It was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. Are they still around?

My brother Barry has never and never will date Rob Gravert. Manson Youth was the original hardcore band from the IE. Anyone who attended the Mexican Housewarming Party in then unincorporated Chino Hills can attest to overkill by the Sherriff’s Dept. in their riot gear. The only other “punk” band from the area would evolve into the Stepmothers. And they really weren’t punk. Manson Youth did the original version of Fire. Flea who was in Fear at the time saw them do it, went nuts and eventually took it to the Chili Peppers. I still run into people who regard the band as gods. the fans were known as the M-Y’s and occasionally the band’s MY logo could be seen graffitti-ed on water towers around town. Hope that helps clear up a little bit. C-ya!
ahhhh, the good old days! I used to hang out with DJ, Ted,Danny,Randy,Skunky,Jerry,Todd,Corey, etc. Ted and Corey went to school with me! We helped terrorize Ontario and Upland,Chino Hills too!I remember the house on Alba street,Jerry’s,and the strange neighbors that lived next door! Great days! Yeah, what did happen to Skunky?

I ask about Skunky, ( I prefer to call him Tim)because we got together after his brother, #9 ,was killed on his motorcycle. We were together for over a year, seems longer, maybe 18 months. Anyhow, I think of all my old buddies often and still keep in contact with Corey from time to time, when I come home for visits. Old times, good times! XXVI forever!

No Robbie was always the lead, steve boor was the rythym, I was originally the keyboard but moved to bass, DJ came in to be the singer, I can’t remember who the original drummer was but I do Remember Carl Bunch was also involved in the beginning. Was a great time till I quit and joined the Navy. Oh yeah we were originally the krayons……..

Richie Is Robbies older brother and I think he did play the drums for a bit but I can’t remember who took his spot.
Skunk is not in jail. he was in for a very short time. i worked with him for 17 years. last time i saw him was at his moms memorial about 3 months ago. I was with #9 when he was killed by a drunk driver on his motorcycle. he was on his bike I was in my V8 mini-truck. we were on our way to Grazianos. Jerry’s house was on Elma St. not alba.
