RIP, Strange Reaction
God, it’s been a bad stretch for music blogs of late. First, Agony Shorthand calling it quits. Then 100 Records getting shut down, and now the announcement that Scott is closing the doors at Strange Reaction. I was taken aback with the news, but ultimately not that surprised. It takes a lot of energy and drive to keep one of these sites up, especially for as long as Strange Reaction has been around. Not to mention running a one person show. Once you cross the 1 year mark these things tend to be kept alive on life support (ahem). Strange Reaction turned me on to some good stuff, which I’m appreciative. Scott, the doors are open here for you any time (before I pull the plug on this barely breathing corpse)

i hope you keep this alive….a lot of great stuff is posted here….i understand its tough when it becomes a duty rather than a pleasure to make posts…trust me though not all of us make comments but we appreciate the effort…(besides how many times can we post…..great stuff keep up the work!!)
here here! hear hear! i can’t remember the last time i made a mix for myself or anybody else that didn’t have at least one track i first heard on this site.
I’m thinking of re-doing oldpunks as a MP3 blog but I don’t know if there are any MP3 hosts that are reliable and won’t cost me an arm and a leg. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Emerson… Dreamhost is $10 a month with a ton of storage and mind-boggling amounts of transfer. Check them out. Email me for more info.
I hope you never stop. I know it might be a pain in the ass sometimes, but just post when you feel like it. If you post less, thats fine, just keep the quality. I appreciate this site (and strange reaction) for the quality. Too many “punk blogs” post inconsistent material, you dont. What I’m saying is, its all about your good taste and what you feel like doing. Good taste is rare on the web.
I hope you don’t axe “Something…” — it’s seriously one of the all-time best of the music blogs. I really liked “Strange Reaction” and was really bummed to see it gone.
2006 seems like the Year of Dead and Dying Blogs — big-time blog attrition going on.
I don’t really care musically, but some of the comments were nice there.
2006 seems like the year when some blogs die but some great new blogs are born! Lip up.
The circle of life. A Nietzscheanian nightmare
Wow, a lot of blogs have closed up recently.
Don’t let SILT die! Like Tom said, even just post when ya feel like it…and RIP Strange Reactions.
Please keep it alive, you’re all I have to look forward to in the day
Yes, there’s been a few scares lately. Too bad that people quit. I don’t know though, blogging is nothing to get really stressed out over. Look at me I only post shit anyhow!
Seriously, thanks for YOUR blog, it is an inspiration…
Ugh…
dude… say something!!!
/worried looks.
