Mule/Shellac Split 7″

I said in the previous post that I would post the Shellac/Mule single if anyone wanted it and I’ll be dipped in shit, a couple of you actually bellied up and said “sure”. So here it is, the split single released in 1997 on “Laff ‘n Go”. One song apiece from Shellac and Mule, previously recorded tracks reworked with a “soul sound”. What does that mean? Nice and mellow, man. Nice and mellow. Not the best representation of each band, but worth a listen:
Songs removed by request of label - material being reissued soon!

Thank you for posting this and the other Mule songs. I wasn’t paying attention when the band existed and missed out completely. All I can vaguely remember is one band member getting bitten by a snake and narrowly avoiding death. I think they may even have toured the UK although I could be mistaken on that count (a photo of the snakebite certainly appeared in the press over here). Hadn’t heard that slow version of Shellac’s Rambler Song either, so thanks again – you’re work is much appreciated.
Great soundtrack for sexual activities (of a shorter kind, though)!
word up!
thanks homie!
Thanks! P-W’s solo thang was one of the highlights of the T&G 25th Anniversary Fest, for me. I can’t remember if he came on before, or after Negative Approach. I recall he was far more powerful, armed only with an accoustic, than NA was.
I always remember thinking that Mississippi Breaks, along with the whole Mule vibe, as being the indie rock equivalent to gangsta rap. They definitely got me through a couple years of gruntwork at a warehouse and I will always have much love for them.
Shellac/Mule Split 7…
…
Strange reissue. What’s the story???
As it was explained to me, T&G are opening their own digital store. Rumor has it that some of the tracks will be available as beautiful, uncompressed .wav files, just as God intended.

I always liked this 7″ very much and imagine my surprise when I heard the “The Rambler Song” as bumper (har) music on NPR’s Click & Clack show.
What’s that?…you don’t care? oh.
