Touch & Go 25th Anniversary
First off - I didn’t go. These days I can barely drive 60 miles to Binghamton to take in X and the Rollins Band, let alone 700+ miles to Chicago for 3 days. Not that I didn’t want to though. Joe at Last Days of Man on Earth posted his take on the weekend and made me so envious I could spit. A couple of days late (I meant to post this before the festivities began last Friday), here’s a mix of the the bands I would have liked to have seen. Tops on my list would be the Didjits and Scratch Acid, both worth the price of admission according to early reports. Feel free to share your opinions of the event in the comments
Girls Against Boys - In Like Flynn.mp3
Pegboy - Dangerwood.mp3
Killdozer - King of Sex.mp3
Didjits - Agent 99.mp3
PW Long - The Shakin’ Fears.mp3
Negative Approach - Whatever I Do.mp3
Scratch Acid - She Said.mp3
Man or Astroman? - Linear Particle Accelerator.mp3
Big Black - Big Money.mp3
Shellac - Wingwalker.mp3
Arcwelder - Down To The Wire.mp3
The Monorchid - Southern Fried Wonton.mp3
And in case you missed it, there’s a bunch of video clips of the action available on YouTube.

what is,was and what it’s sure to continue for the world of ‘’REAL'’ music.Oh, and thank you ,sir, fer da post!!!!
Seeing the Didjits one last time was worth the money it took to get there from Dallas. I only went on Saturday and Scratch Acid, Big Black/Shellac, Negative Approach were all very good aswell. I still can’t belive I got to see the Didgits and that they sounded like they did back in their prime. I have a feeling that the whole affair will be on DVD, there were pro-style cameras everywhere.
Love this site!
If I could have gone to see this my top choices would have to include the Didjits, Scratch Acid, Arcwelder & Negative Approach. Heck, I am sure the whole thing would have been great
Definitely a great time. Some highlights for me:
Pegboy
Ted Leo
Didjits
Negative Approach
Scratch Acid
Big Black
Monorchid
What an awesome event. I’m hard pressed to think of another label that pull off this sort of event (mixing current bands with worth-while reunions by some of their classic acts). I think it says a lot about Corey Rusk and Touch and Go.
great records released , great label!
I did the punk rock geezer special, and only went on Saturday. What a great fucking day! Pegboy wasn’t as tight as they could be, but had alot of fun ripping through their set, and all was forgiven. The SHOW made ‘em great. Larry’s an amazing performer. While I dug all the reunions, the mini-sets before the big ones were anti-climactic and boring. For me, the big event was NA. If you’re gonna go on with 1/2 the original band and two replacements, you couldn’t pick a better lineup. OP, John, Harold (Easy Action), and Ron (Necros, Laughing Hyenas, Easy Action)were fucking incredible! Only real complaint…should have been the final act of the day. You go back to that old hardcore played live, and it takes a little off the rest of the shows. Getting up front stopped being a priority. That being said, Scratch Acid and Big Black were amazing.
Big Black - I think that was the band most wanted to see more of. It was surprising to see Albin get a little bit mushy about the label and scene. It was great to here those songs and the fireworks intro live again.
Didjits were damn good, especially for notplaying withthat lineup in over 15 years. You need to get an older track than Agent 99, that’s farely late in thier career, and not really reresentive of what made them unique. Did anyone notice they only played songs that Ricks brother Brad, the origianl drummer recorded? I’m going to see them in Champaign Il tomorrow. Flying from Portland Oregon. I have a problem.
I wasn’t much of a Scratch Acid fan in the day, but they sounded great as well.
Wow, I never had heard that Shellac tune before. Perhaps one of the best I’ve heard. Any chance you could post the flip side to that single (Doris). Allmusic says the Uranus single is perhaps one of the bands best. Hard to disagree.
The Big Black video on YouTube was simply overwhelming. Gave me chills.
Thanks for the great post
i felt spoiled for living about 20 minutes from this show when i met so many people from around the world there. it was a great weekend, except for the weather and the guy who came up to my friend and i saying he’d seen us on flickr. (creepy, even though he is apparently a friend of friends.)
my highlights, for each day: girls against boys, man or astroman, arcwelder. such good times.
Best Damn show of the whole event was Killdozer. Those boys looked a bit wierd all grown up (well I wouldnt say that Gerald grew Up any…) but tore the place down. Entertaining review at: http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/reviews.cfm/id/1118/page/killdozer__fuck_the_other_bands_.html
damn…woulda loved to see the Didjits again…I was lucky to have mixed their first ever gig at Chico’s in Urbana (as far as I know…they probably played some in Mattoon before hitting the “big city” I would think…) and they were already great then. When are they coming to Minneapolis?
That stuff rocks!
Post some Failure while you’re at it, dude!
“drive 60 miles to Binghamton” Yo, Eric, where are you? I was out Ithaca-Bingotown way until earlier this year. [Lost 4000+ records in the summer flood.] We were sorta locals? Jeez. Missed opportunity, man. You and yours would have had a guest room after the shows and the traditional huge breakfasts the next morning. Ah well, lemme know, if you find yourself moving out West….
As for the Touch and Go anniversary - still grumbling about deadlines that kept this crew from being at that historic event. Thanks folks for all your comments about the performances. A little vicarious action there!
Big Black did put on a pretty cool live show. Saw them a few times, and once with Scratch Acid and Killdozer. The drum machine always bothered me, but they were still great .
any chance you’d post all of monorchid’s first album?
i’ve been looking for it for awhile, with no success.
Dude, you can buy it here: http://www.lovitt.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&cPath=2&products_id=12. Great record.
thanks for the link, but i should’ve specified: i can’t find the CD.
i had the LP back in the day, but it got stolen from my dorm room. and now vinyl’s too impractical for my modern active lifestyle!
but i ’spose i could get another copy and rip it to my computer.
