Songs About Years

I’ve been trying to squeeze out a 3 week post for months now, hoping to get back to the pre-February 2006 schedule. So what do you get for an extra post? A potluck of songs with years in the title. Why? Because I fucking feel like it. Kinda goofy? Absolutely…

    “99 Luft Balloons”?$#$%#$?%

That’s a number, not a year, Joe. Sheesh!

Does that weird old Zager & Evans “In the Year 2525″ count on a punk blog?

    I thought not. Carry on.

  14. Joe.Stumble August 30th, 2006 4:10 pm

fuck…got it wrong again. Thought it was about numbers. OK…does “9 To 5″ count by Dolly Parton? No shit, those are hours….I’ll get back to you.

Is there anything else from Le Peste you can add. I found your old post and was amazed! I dug them more than the Weirdos (which is saying something) Can you find it in your heart to give us a lil more from them, I’ve never heard an early live punk recording kick so much ass (not to mention the killer quality) and not be a photocopy of something I had heard a thousand times before. Truely they are an early punk gem.

  17. Jordan Kratz September 2nd, 2006 9:00 am

LaPeste CD on Dionysus Records called Better Of LaPeste available.70 minutes worth of them and I engineered most of it on 4 track for them in 78-79.

Thats awsome I have to track it down somehow living in bumfuc Ky without a credit card is gona make it a bitch but it’ll be worth it. It just blows my mind that those guys never made it and aren’t even well known (at least around here) in the underground circles. And i didn’t even know till recently the drummer was the singer now THATS A MINDFUC!!

Hay, thanks a lot for the blog and music.
There’s lots of punk songs called 1984. And bands! (I know at least of a couple: the French ones and an obscure band from Barcelona…)

    More ideas… mmm…
    MX-80 sound - Summer of 77
Wasps - Cant wait for 78
SLF - 78 rpm (yes, it’s about the year 1978)
    Crisis - PC 1984
    Motorhead - 1916 (it’s an album)
Exploited (oh no!) - UK ‘82
    Tchaikovsky - Overture 1812, ha
    Ventures - Walk don’t run ‘64
Culture - Two sevens clash (about 1977’s prophecy)
and so on (Maarten did a good job anyway)

    Spanish contributions:
    Espasmódicos - 1983
    TNT - 1984 Euroshima

  26. fernando January 18th, 2007 11:47 pm

Oh, I forgot, two spanish punk contributions more:

    Último Resorte - Año 2000
    Último Resorte - Berlín ‘80

If memory serves I think there was a band from Madrid called 1985, tho’ now I’m not quite sure…
