Knockout Pills

Knockout Pills - knockoutpills.com

Tucson’s Knockout Pills are the perfect antidote to a crappy day ( i.e. today ). No kidding, a bad day at work followed by 30 minute commute with the Knockout Pills on the Ipod and I’m good to go. The stun gun guitar, big hooks, and plain ‘ol infectious energy of their songs generally helps shit roll off my back. Don’t take my word for it - here’s how current label Estrus hypes their shit :

bridging the gap between a beer stained pile of revved up American & Aussie punk records of the 70s and a stack of choice US garage, British invasion and psych sides from the 60’s and pure ‘04 AZ foxfire…think early Didgits, Husker Du, Saints, Birdman, Teengenerate, Ramones, Cheap Trick, Real Kids…Hell, you get the score.

To date the band has two excellent records to their credit, 2003’s Knockout Pills on Deadbeat, and 2004’s 1+1=Ate on Estrus. Here’s a taste

30 minute commute?! On Fridays it takes 45 minutes just to get from Jamboree to Euclid on the 405 here in Orange County — and they’re 4.5 miles apart! Grrrrrrrrrrr…

It’s a trade off - short commute times versus 120″ of snow every winter

What a great band. I discovered them when 1+1=Ate came out, and it’s still in my “preferred stack” of music by my stereo. Denton, TX’s The Marked Men also do a great job of this end of punk.
