Jakkpot

I honestly don’t think I can describe Baltimore’s Jakkpot any better than this description of the band from :30 Under DC
Great stupid punk rock… Musically this is killer stuff: big ol’ Black Market Baby style guitar (courtesy of Keith Campbell), pounding rock drums, and lyrics about getting your dick sucked. If that’s yer thing, then so is this.
And that really sums it up. I missed out on the band’s singles on American Punk, Junk and Ken Rock (so if anyone wants to hook me up…), but I was fortunate enough to track down an album/singles comp(?) called Lie, Cheat, ‘n Steal a couple of years back, which is where these tracks come from. So yeah, Jakkpot’s all about thick guitar riffs, tough vocals, and leather jackets - great stupid punk rock:

Jakkpot - You Ain’t Shit.mp3
Jakkpot - Hit or Miss.mp3
Jakkpot - Just One Fix.mp3

Yeah, great band… They also recorded a pretty cool version of Black Market Baby’s “Nobody wanted us” too…I love their version of “Young and Dumb” the old Rubber City Rebels song….
wanted to hear these for ages and they fucking rock - thanks!
Nice post! I was all over Jakkpot when they were active back in ‘96, ‘97, ‘98. My other favorite Jakkpot songs are “Burnin’ In 77″ (B-side to “3-2-1-Go”) and the mindblowing “Safetyblades and Razorpins” (from their single on 007 Records). I was sad when they kind of faded away in the late 90’s. I still wear my cool Jakkpot T-shirt that I ordered from American Punk through their mailorder catalog (no “e-commerce” back then).
I was just trying to dig up more info on these guys for www.bandtoband.com — any ideas where they all went after the band disappeared?
