God Bullies

God Bullies
Fulfilling a request for the Caveman, who has patiently emailed me several times about some tracks without ever copping an attitude when my replies have been “tardy”. All he wanted was to hear the last God Bullies 7″, 1995’s Millenium. I’m happy to oblige. My response to these guys back in their heyday was always lukewarm, but I’ve grown to appreciate most of their AmRep material. I never heard the band’s Alternative Tentacles work, but if it’s similar to the tracks here I’ll have to investigate. I love the creepy heavy A-side on this one, and the flip, though tamer, ain’t bad either.

Notes:
Strange Reaction has the band’s double 7″ Join Satan’s Army

Thanks for this, it’s one I didn’t have either. I knew they were something special when I first heard them on “Dope, Guns…”. What a bunch of brilliant weirdos.

Mike Hard worked in a book store in Ypsilanti, Michigan. My friend new him and we’d chat him up when buying text books. I never listened to his band.

actually, the bookstore,he owns!oddly found some info. on-line that lead straight to his
home phone#,spoke very briefly to the man himself just a few days ago.didn’t seem upset at all over me confessing to making
something of a diy bootleg boxset!anyone interested knows by now how to reach me if they’d like a copy!!!mr.hard was very pleasant in tone and demeaner, seemed odd that he was so soft spoken concidering his
    ‘’vocal'’ background!

Mike Hard has a new band for anyone that doesn’t already know called Apostles of the Apocalypse. There are Three God Bullies in this band. Mike of Course, David Livingstone, and Adam Berg. Karen Neal who was in Thrall and The Brainsaw with Mike is in the band too. I saw them at their first show in Detroit, and anyone that likes God Bullies will like them.

the god bullies were more of a cultural movement than a band. At their apex, they had a unique ability to mobilize a number of small colllege town idiots into a cohesive unit of power. You really had to be there to feel the amazing force of this group. Words do not do their legacy justice……

hey amy if yer still out there,i’ve managed to gather the band entire history on digital format,if you’d like copies let me know as i’m pretty sure they won’t be re-releasing any of the old stuff within the next hundred years or so.so while analog is king, having the convience of digital is kinda nice.
