V/A - New Jersey’s Got It?

Satisfying a waaay old request, here’s New Jerseys’ Got It? Released on Buy Our Records in 1985, the compilation is nothing but Garden State bands. I’ve been sitting on this one for a good, long while, because honestly it’s mostly disposable. Most of the tracks here play like mediocre, second-tier material. The highlights are a deranged Cows like track from Cynamid, a fuzzed out stomper from Pleased Youth, weird, theatrical noise from Children in Adult Jails, and hyperactive thrash from Adrenalin OD. The highlights are listed below: (whole LP can be found here)

Bedlam - Mongoofy.mp3
Bodies in Panic - Wendy O.mp3
Cynamid - Support.mp3
Pleased Youth - Obedience School.mp3
Children in Adult Jails - Fishing for Compliments.mp3
Stetz - Kids Habits.mp3
My 3 Sons - People Who Bleed.mp3
Sacred Denial - What Religion.mp3
Adrenalin OD - Infiltrate The State.mp3

notes:
>Strange Reaction has the My 3 Sons 7″ available. Check it out
>Many of the bands here were also featured on the Big City - One Big Crowd comp LP. Vinyl Mine gives you the nickel tour.

I LOVE the sacred denial tracks on this, in fact I think they are perhaps the most under-rated NJ band ever. The Children in Adult Jails track, “Fishing for Compliments” was a big standout for me too. I remember buying this LP when it came out, and now I can’t believe that means I bought it 20 years ago! Where does the time go?!

Liked some of the tracks and didn’t care for some of the others. I have the Child in Adult Jails record, which I bought after hearing them on this comp, and spent many years in vain searching for more Cynamid. I have the My 3 Sons 7″ but got it as a review copy not because i was that interested in them.

Come to think of it, I think I wrote to Cynamid and they sent me a tape but it was a real lo-fi thing that eventually got mangled in a cassette machine.

It so happens that my 2 favorite bands from NJ are Children In Adult Jails and Cynamid. Being in My 3 Sons I was lucky to play with both bands mostly in New Brunswick. Just an fyi for the NJ comp album. The picture on the front cover was taken by Jim Dunlevy from Bedlam and Scott Frank (rip) from My 3 Sons. The back cover drawing was done by “wally” from My 3 Sons.

I vaguely recall owning this LP at some point, along with the Bodies In Panic LP that I bought and have never listened to.

im 34 years old. I got this record when i was 15.
i really loved the book that came with this record.
On the cobver was a drawing of a turd in a bathtub.
The title was “who shit in the tub?”
    pure comedy (then & now)

KFTH says that there’s a F.O.D. cut on this record? Is there actually?
