Non Compos Mentis

Another great Texas band, Non Compos Mentis (later just NCM) were a trio from Dallas that released two singles on the VVV label in the early ’80’s. Years later the tracks would make the obligatory appearance on the boot compilation (Back to Front, Killed By Death, and Outlaws in my Eye, Texas!, amongst others). The tracks here are catchy, almost poppy punk. I wish I had more info on the band, but that’s where you guys come in. CollectorScum completist can check out Break My Face’s It Never Ends entry for NCM for all the gory details on the first 7″.

Truly great. That 1st 7″ of theirs is one of the best things punk rock ever did. Thanks for posting the other stuff too, 1st time I have heard any of that.
Question though. “Quick To Compliment” the only worth while song off that second 45?
Classy… a reader sent me the the quick to compliment tracks. The b-side he included wasn’t of the same recording quality as the A-side. It is obviously from a different source (ripped from KBD 24):
NCM - I Used to Know You.mp3
How right you are. Too bad too, its a pretty strong song. Neither compare to ultimate orgasm though. Are all of the songs listed here the complete catalog for these guys? Anyone know?
Ultimate Orgasm is one of my all time favs. I heard it (like most people) on the KBD collection. It is just a strong track and as poppy as KBD gets. Personally, I like the other song on the 2nd single better.
just discovered UR site. pretty cool stuff.
[…] Not as catchy and intense as their first killer that will be posted later on. In the meantime you can check out Erik of Something I Learned Todays post of it: Ultimate Orgasm. Still this has its moments. While I Used To Know You is poppy and soft Quick To Compliment got some more distorted guitars. I like both of them and they got that special NCM sound: weird stuff that roles in and out here and there and that special knack for hooky melodies. […]
