Insults

View this post as a tag-team effort (albeit unplanned) with Strange Reaction to deliver you the first two Insults singles. This here is the Insults first single from 1979 Population Zero/Zombie Lover. As Scott’s Stiff Love post states, there isn’t a lot of info about the band, so if anyone can contribute then you know what to do. The tracks here aren’t as immediately catchy as the snotty and lewd “Stiff Love” material, but they feature such a gnarly guitar sound that I can overlook it.

This is the only 2 songs on this see through green 45. This is my sisters ex husbands band before he formed Plain Jane and the Jokes which my sister Debby was Plain Jane. If you have this 45 are you wanting to sell?

Found this site by google as I was wondering what our 45’s were worth these days on the open market as I have an original test pressing of Doper/Tax/Stiff. I played bass on all these plus the 33 vinyl release (aka Brian F/ Johnny Tomaro). Glad to see that this shit still lives on. Good thing I’m not in politics.
For the record (Whaa!) Zero/Zombie was our first recording, then Doper/Stiff/Tax, a few years back someone dug us up one by one and a managed to get the masters from the second recording session. Not all of it was released on the 33. So still floating out there somewhere is our cover of “At the Hop” and a handful of others. The master came apart during the digital transfer so that’s gone. When we cut the 45’s, we didn’t have much money for studio time so we recorded everything live one take, mistakes and all. I think we had a budget of $500 maybe a $1000 for everything incuding pressing the records. I still like the green one, though I always thought the recording sounded like it had been run through the washer, though with time that seams to have added to our alure.
