Punk Rock and Other Assorted Bullshit

Subhumans

Fulfilling a request from a reader in China (which blows my mind for some reason), here are both 7″ singles from Vancouver, BC’s amazing Subhumans. First and foremost is the bands self-released 1978 single Death To The Sickoids, two rough and ready tracks. The bands second 7″ Firing Squad was released in 1980 on Quintessence and is a major leap forward in terms of production and song writing. “Firing Squad” is an early underground anthem - a classic melodic punk cut. 1996’s compilation CD Pissed Off… With Good Reason collects most of the band’s best known songs in various forms and is a nice overview. Personally, I’d like to see a reissue that includes all of the band’s studio output (both singles, the 12″, and both LP’s) while scrapping the live material.

thank you! and I always liked the original pressing of “Incorrect Thoughts” than the version pressed by CD Presents, which was remixed and mixed up the running order.

I thought the Chinese-Cisco firewalls had blogspot in thier killfile.

Jim… that was one of the reasons I was surprised by the request. The requesters sig line read “A hardcore punk fan from China”. It may have left out “currently residing somewhere else”.

Of course, this could be one of the increasing number of emails sent to me that was supposed to go to the author of one of the myriad punk mp3 blogs.

Thank you very much, Eric. I am a Chinese graduate student and just came to USA a few months ago. However, in China people could view such blogs without any trouble(at least until I left). The Cisco firewalls just block some political websites.

I first heard this single from the hardcore punk compilation”faster and louder” issued by Rhino. It is a cassette and I have played it for hundreds of times. I thought these cassettes were too heavy for my case and sent it to a friend before I left.

Thanks again! This song really reminds me of some old days^-^

Can anybody shed any light on why their SST LP was in print for such a short period? In those days SST never deleted anything!

I just thought I’d mention that in a recent interview w/ Jello Biafra that I downloaded he mention that Alternative Tentacles will be reissuing the Subhumans’ material as well a record of all new material as they’ve reformed…
