Something I Learned Today

Punk Rock and Other Assorted Bullshit

Child Molesters

You would think that with the proliferation of punk rock websites that I could turn up some band info on LA’s Child Molesters, but I can’t find anything of substance. Anyone familiar with the Killed By Death/Bloodstains series will know the band, as most of the material from the band’s early singles has been comped. Below are the bands first two singles in all of their sloppy, crude, anti-social glory. Also, two tracks from 1981’s 12″ Wir Lieben Die Jugendlich Madchen (a title I’m almost afraid to translate). All originally released on Ace & Duce, I think some of this has been reissued by SFTRI.

from 1978’s debut 7″
Child Molesters - (I’m The) Hillside Strangler.mp3
Child Molesters - Don’t Worry Kyoko.mp3

from 1979’s second 7″
Child Molesters - (I Wanna See Some) Wholesale Murder.mp3
Child Molesters - I’m Gonna Punch You (In the Face).mp3

from 1981’s Wir Lieben die Jugendlich Madchen 12″
Child Molesters - I’m So Fucked Up.mp3
Child Molesters - 13 Is My Lucky Number.mp3

I tried finding info on them once and came up pretty empty as well. Was Ace Farren Ford in the band or just a label for them? http://www.acefarrenford.com/index.html

Wow, thanks! Talk about prices for records getting outrageous! And why do people do reissues of 100??? Screw it, I’ll just get the songs from here then, thanks again!

    3. malfeitor December 13th, 2005 12:43 am

…and by the way the SFTRI reissue is also OOP according to their website (the 100 pressing I refer to is an Ace & Duce anniversary edition).

It translates “Leave Your Girlfriend at home”

Yeah this band fucking ruled. Check out the poster in “The Legendary Brown Album”. one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen

    5. shit ox December 13th, 2005 5:30 pm

ace farren ford was the child molesters’ singer, aka farren forceps. he also played in crowbar salvation and the mystery band, among others.

In Richard Meltzer’s book “A Whore Just Like The Rest” there’s a transcription of a 1980 interview he did with them on his radio show. It’s not exactly “informative” though… although some of them apparently played with the Seeds and Wild Man Fischer!

    9. ruedi December 15th, 2005 9:19 am

well actually it translates as: we love the young/teen girls. cheers

    10. ruedi December 15th, 2005 9:21 am

the wholesale murder 7″ has a different cover that was released early before the original sleeves were made up. Ace says that to make the Hitler’s birthday release date they hand made 5 sleeves and put all 5 at rockaway records in LA.when the
printed sleeves arrived they pulled the remaining unsold copies. apparently 3 copies sold at rockaway and ace kept the unsold copies and auctioned or sold them off to cover bills.

I used to have ‘Wholesale Murder’ and ‘13 Is My lucky Number’ on some home made compilation cassette that I got from Dr. Strange Records. I put alot of mileage on that tape, mostly due to the Child Molesters tracks. Their songs sound like demented 70’s TV commercials. They coulda wrote jingles, that stuff is so catchy. GENIUS!

How about “Surfing with the Child Molester” 7″ (Sympathy For The Record Industry). It’s released in 1994. Is it recorded too in the 90’s?

    16. KNOWDEMWELL June 22nd, 2006 3:41 am

The bass player is an associate of mine. Definitely a cool, well versed individual. I’m trying to get him to do a revival lp with his bandmates. Could happen soon. If you are interested in learning more-leave me some contact info. on your blog.

    17. Ace Farren Ford November 8th, 2006 6:16 am

Hello boys and girls, it’s true i founded the Child Molesters in 1977 and disbanded in 1982. I was the lead growler and released most of the original recordings. Sympathy re-released the early tracka and released the previously unissued lp in the 90’s. Anyone with questions concerning the band or any of it’s members can direct to Ace & Duce Records P.O. Box 691 South Pasadena CA 91031-0691 or the website (acefarrenford.com) Glad to know folks still love it and hate it.

Oh yeah…The Brown Album! I had a copy of that. Snake-Eyed Donkey, You Make Me Sick and Violent Crimes. That porno collage poster that came with the record had to be one of the most un-PC things ever…BEAUTIFUL! Now that is ART!

    21. Jeremy November 21st, 2007 1:03 am

The Child Molesters are a work of art. I have almost all the albums, except the legendary hound dog sessions… I listen to them whenever I can…
