Clitboys

After this weeks post on the Catatonics I received a request for the Clitboys, so here you go. Featuring 7 tracks of speedy midwest meat & potatoes hardcore, We Don’t Play the Game is the Clitboys lone EP, released in 1983. As I mentioned in an earlier post this 7″ was booted along with Active Ingredient’s Bringing Down The Big Boys EP, the Catatonics Hunted Down EP, and Mecht Mensch’s Acceptance EP on one LP. An interesting compilation of some forgotten records. As for the Clitboys, well I have no idea what became of the members. Someone out there can probably fill in the blanks.

Another fine post — this one is among my favorite ep’s of all time (Mecht Mensch would be on that list too). Just great pissed off political punk rock. I remember being struck some 20 years ago that some band I’d never heard of from the midwest was writing about gay rights. That fact, and the rampant jock homophobia at my school at the time led to “Gays OK - They’re people too” being spray painted in huge letters in the middle of my high school quad. It didn’t last long (the graffiti that is, the jock homophobia managed to stick around for a while longer). Thanks for doing what you are doing — one effect is to lead me down interesting music related memory paths.
take care

wow, i’ve been looking for this for a while now. those 4 7″s on one lp would be incredible. the midwest scene gets so overlooked.
what a guy! thanks very much for filling the request. haven’t heard these tunes since about 88′.
to look a gifthorse in the mouth, would love to hear Sado Nation & Sin 34 sometime in the future.
i’ll second that sin 34 request. their 7″s and LP are way out of print, and the die listening cd on grand theft audio is hard to get now too. i know, i’ve been trying to get it.
The Clit Boys were from Milwaukee(and suburbs?), around the early 80’s , same time frame as Die Kreuzen, The Crusties and Sacred Order, although the C-Boys (as they sometimes appearded on fliers) didn’t last as long. At one point they were scheduled to play a concert at my high school but were dropped when “they” found out what the C stood for in C-Boys.
The singer from Sin 34 won’t let the lp or anything else get reissued.I read an article, she is now a regular suburban mom, and has some bad memories of the band(she was also on loads of drugs). It’s too bad, the sin 34 stuff I’ve heard is pretty tasty.
Yessss!!!! I’ve been looking for this record since I lost it finally and realized it was gone for good by about 1990! I had the vinyl in 1984 or so. You rock!
The long awaited Hall and Oats album is excellent. Its a mix between Negative Approach and Agnostic Front.
milwaukee represent.
Good record, great band.
As for the “Where Are They Now?” question, well, all I know is that singer Michael Konik now resides in Hollywood, where he writes (about golf, and poker), does stand-up comedy, and the occasional television appearance. He also released a couple of records with his Jazz band in 2003 on his label FreeHam Records (on which you can find other thrilling Jazz musicians).
Said best on his official website, “Michael spent the year after high school graduation doing unspeakable damage to his vocal chords performing and recording with the seminal 1980’s punk rock band The Clitboys”.
Ah, completely forgot to add the link to his blog where he writes a little about the band.

Haha, now guess who was responsible for that comp LP with the 4 7″s (Mecht Mensch, Catatonics, Active Ingredients and Clitboys) ….
